Who are We?
Light4America is a project supported by the Bridge Alliance, "a community of 100+ organizations working across traditional ideological, demographic and racial lines." We are fiscally sponsored by the Bridge Alliance Education Fund, the 501c3 arm of the Bridge Alliance.
Capitol map and logistics
In 2023 we met at Area 12. WE RESPECTED THE US CAPITOL POLICE!
2022 and 2023 MEETING PLACE: 1ST ST. & CONSTITUTION AVE NW
Unlike the citizens who came on January 6, 2021, on January 6 2022 and January 5, 2023 Light4America respected all rules and especially the brave men and women of the U.S. Capitol Police!
- We filed the appropriate permit. We coordinated our event with the Capitol Police and notified Members of Congress. The Capitol Police were in the vicinity. We had no trouble but we were ready to alert the Capitol Police appropriately.
- We had no open flames allowed including candles.
- The Capitol police reviewed our limited equipment, including the free 50 battery operated candles we gave to people who sign up, our flashlights, and our own small PA system.
- Our own rules: we don't want partisan signs. Signs that say "Pray4America" or something nonpartisan and positive are fine.
- Respect our desire to stay silent during the moments when we pray and meditate.
